As financial services evolve, firms are rethinking their workplaces to attract top talent, embrace hybrid work, and deliver more meaningful client experiences. In Philadelphia, this shift is especially visible as legacy companies modernize their spaces to balance tradition with innovation. Glenmede, a boutique wealth management firm, embraced this challenge, seeking to create a workplace that reflects its heritage while supporting agility, collaboration, and connection — positioning the firm to thrive in a rapidly changing industry and competitive talent landscape.
Gensler partnered with Glenmede to transform its Philadelphia headquarters into a modern, agile workplace rooted in the firm’s heritage. Inspired by the flowing movement of the nearby Schuylkill River, the design features a striking three-story marble stair, open floorplans, and flexible, unassigned workspaces to support hybrid work. A reimagined atrium promotes connection and collaboration, while curated amenities — including a barista bar, library, and recording studio — enhance employee and client experiences, reflecting Glenmede’s vision for innovation and lasting impact.
Glenmede’s reimagined headquarters strengthens its legacy while positioning the firm for the future. The design fosters collaboration, flexibility, and innovation, enhancing both employee and client experiences. By staying in Center City and revitalizing its space within the iconic One Liberty Building, Glenmede reinforces its deep roots in Philadelphia while embracing modern workplace strategies. The result is a dynamic environment that attracts top talent, supports hybrid work, and reflects the firm’s enduring commitment to excellence and stewardship.
