Banking Corporation

International

Aiming to reduce overhead costs, a multinational banking corporation enlisted Gensler’s help to measure and track occupancy and space usage across its 1.2-million-square-foot campus. Employing its occupancy management platform, Wisp™, Gensler first tracked space and occupants down to the cubicle level and used the resulting data to identify the location and magnitude of underutilized space. This revealed the space each business unit occupied in real-time and provided planners with up-to-date information. Space inefficiencies were then identified, leading to a large consolidation effort. Using Wisp’s stacking and blocking scenario features, Gensler facilitated the consolidation the client’s campus and eliminated 200,000 square feet of leased space. By using Wisp, the time to complete the project was reduced by three months and disruption to employees during the re-stack was minimized. The result was a reduction in vacancy and an annual savings of $4.9 million.
