Are consumer products companies delivering on workplace experience? Employees report high levels of workplace choice, but note opportunities to improve workplace effectiveness across all work modes and a below-average satisfaction with in-house amenities.
What opportunities exist to improve the workplace for energy companies? While job satisfaction in this industry is higher than average, employees report below-average levels of choice in when and where to work. This may be a missed opportunity to improve performance.
Can government workplaces improve in a time of budget and space constraints? Increasing employee choice and mobility is an opportunity to improve performance and satisfaction. To deliver, workplace solutions must be paired with the right tools, technologies and policies.
Is the workplace helping not-for-profit organizations achieve their mission? Less than one in four NFP employees works in a top-performing workplace, underscoring the need for environments that better support them in their efforts to help others.
What’s next for the tech workplace? Employees report higher-than-average levels of choice, satisfaction and workplace effectiveness – but there’s still room for improvement. Less than one in three tech employees reports working in an optional or “balanced” workplace.
Are college campuses working for students? Students spend a large portion of their time working alone. Campuses that prioritize collaborative study space at the expense of individual work are missing the mark.
Will the legal office adapt to new working realities? Next-generation legal workplaces must align with an emerging focus on quality of life and team-based working to maximize performance while managing cost.
What design strategies maximize building envelope performance? Technological innovation alone will not deliver necessary building envelope performance. A mix of passive and active design strategies is necessary.
What is the commercial value of open space? Property owners, developers, and investors are willing to pay a premium for proximity to urban open space—at least 3% for the majority of survey respondents.
How could CO2 legislation shift the building industry? As CO2 legislation becomes increasingly stringent, carbon is emerging as the performance metric of choice and shifting the conversation toward life-cycle efficiency.
Do top-performing companies work differently? Successful companies provide workplaces that value and support all activities critical to knowledge work today— focusing, collaborating, learning, and socializing.
Can employee data drive workplace strategy? Measuring the performance of the workplace across a variety of functional and experiential factors uncovers opportunities to improve employee productivity and engagement.
Are developers meeting tenants’ sustainability expectations? Developers and tenants agree that sustainable design is an opportunity to reduce operating costs, yet only a third of developers at the time of this survey believed operating costs were a primary consideration when developing a commercial property.
