This dated biotech lab building, next to Torrey Pines golf course, needed an upgrade to its efficiency and image. For higher leasing appeal, Gensler undertook three major interventions on the structure. The lobby was expanded to encompass both the existing employee entrance and a new double-height visitor entrance, providing easier road access and a stronger identity. A new curtain wall system conceals the tilt-up exterior to unify and improve the building’s presence. The existing, wing-shaped floor plate was reconfigured for better views and planning flexibility. Finally, increased fluidity in the interior circulation throughout the building extends further to the exterior and connects indoor-outdoor amenity space.
