Campbell Hall Art Gallery

North Hollywood, California

Gensler designed this arts center and gallery as part of a comprehensive campus enhancement project for Campbell Hall, an independent K-12 day school in Los Angeles. The state-of-the-art center has a two-tiered design approach: encourage interaction among teachers and students, and take advantage of space between functions that typically goes unused to allow for interdisciplinary exposure. The weaving of gardens and terraces into the new building draws from the original A. Quincy Jones-designed classroom clusters. The art gallery’s large roll-up garage door invites students into the exhibit space and creates interstitial and spaces with multiple uses.
