Citi Haiti

Port au Prince, Haiti

Following Haiti’s devastating earthquake in 2010, Citigroup pledged to help boost the local economy and demonstrate hope, beginning with rebuilding its own offices destroyed in the quake. To meet Citigroup’s goal of reduced environmental impact, Gensler worked sensitively within the local constraints on materials and contractors, making the new building the nation’s first to be LEED® certified. Using simple, easy-to-build materials, the branch’s humble scale and spare but refined façade welcome and assure the local community. Water collection and storage and generators collect important resources and further the aim of conveying a sense of renewal for the country as it rebuilds.
