Danmarks Tekniske Univeritet

Copenhagen, Denmark

One of the foremost technical universities in Europe, the Danish Technology University (DTU) faced rising applications and enrollment and needed to expand its capacity. To help DTU accommodate more students, Gensler was tasked with analyzing the school’s 35 existing auditorium spaces to determine how the university could make the most of its space. With data from occupancy and utilization studies, as well as engagements with users, Gensler developed a new concept master plan that, responding both to DTU’s educational styles and the themes affecting higher education today, emphasized flexibility and collaboration. Gensler is continuing to work with DTU to develop these spaces.
