Part of the Portola Campus renovation, Organovo, the first company to deliver breakthrough three-dimensional technologies for engineering living human tissue for research and surgical applications, sought an amenity rich environment that would support its growing company and encourage collaboration among researchers and neighboring tenants. Originally conceived as a single tenant 50,000-square-foot R&D facility, Gensler repositioned the building to accommodate three tenants plus common area amenity space. Continuous full height glazing between lab and office interiors was created to promote greater transparency and interaction between flexible office space and lab environments, while the integration of interior and exterior collaboration space helps facilitate serendipitous interactions among tenants.
