QSR wanted a “brand refresh” for its five franchises in Costa Rica: KFC, Quiznos, Teriyaki Experience, Smash Burgers and Cinnabon. Working closely with the client to increase the competitiveness of its restaurants, Gensler developed a plan for upgrading interiors. While adhering to brand guidelines, the crisp re-design incorporated innovative technology, bright colors and higher-end materials. Playgrounds were replaced by “eyeclick,” a new concept for projecting holograms of images and interactive games onto floors and walls. With coffee being a traditional afternoon beverage in the region, KFC and Quiznos launched new coffee shop concepts—K Point and Q Corner.
