Lance serves as the Southcentral Regional Design Leader. Lance is a nationally acclaimed architect, designer, and sustainability expert who has spent his career focusing on ways to improve the impact of design socially, economically, and environmentally. With nearly three decades of experience designing a variety of innovative projects, he is driven by a passion for merging design excellence with building performance. Highlights include the LEED-Platinum and net-positive-energy “Sustainability Base” at NASA Ames Research Center, and the Student Commons building at Cal State Long Beach, Gensler’s first fully certified Living Building Challenge project.
A recognized leader and advocate for sustainable design, Lance has spoken at TED and keynoted SxSW Eco, among others, addressing a cumulative audience of more than 30,000 people. He has authored two books, contributed to several others, and published hundreds of essays for The New York Times, The Washington Post, and more.
