The Vantone History Museum tells the story—and history—of film in China. The brainchild of Lun Feng, a renowned television personality in China, the small nonprofit museum accommodates interactive displays of Feng’s memorabilia, quiet research, screenings and events. Working with an existing cross-shaped plan, the design highlights contrasts between intimate rooms and the central double-height space. Exhibition rooms around the central space are inspired by Le Corbusier's chapel of Notre Dame du Haut at Ronchamp—each with a unique floating display expressing a chapter of China’s film history. Colored glass panels around the perimeter create a public interface and pique the interest of passers-by.
