Houston Chronicle

Houston, Texas

To meet the needs of the evolving media industry, the Houston Chronicle consolidated its staff and operations into a single facility. The relocation positioned reporters in a more strategic location for breaking news, while gaining a 90% open-workspace layout, collaboration spaces and focus rooms, a large multipurpose room for all-hands meetings and community events, an employee cafe, fitness center, and an incubator space to support local startup companies. A comprehensive change management process began early in the interior design phase, with visits by all employees to the site so they could appreciate firsthand the light-filled volume of their future home. Full-sized focus and collaboration space mock-ups were built on site for preview and buy-in by the end users prior to final build out.
