Metropolis

Los Angeles, California

Metropolis is a mixed-use development consisting of residences, hotel, and retail in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Gensler’s design approach is creating a contemporary, urban living environment, utilizing a common architectural language. Metropolis developed into a series of evolving towers, facades, and rooftops, ascending towards downtown, enhanced by variations in building massing, planning, and facade design. The multiple towers appear as a family — related, but not identical — with each one embodying a unique character that is an integral part of the overall composition. Given its location at the “front door and first row of downtown,” Metropolis will become a significant feature of the cityscape.
